Clear Blue Water, Great Reefs, White sandy Beaches!!!

The first day at Blue Lagoon we took the dingy around to Turtle Island where the Blue Lagoon movie was actually filmed. It is now a PRIVATE Resort and as we pulled up to the dock we were met with a worker and advised we could not stop at the island. We visited a small village where the girls found a couple of shell necklaces to buy. We decided to visit a local farm for more fresh vegetables and hiked for 30 minutes to get to the farm over the hill from the beach area. We found fresh papaya, green peppers, egg plant , limes and bananas.

After a few days at the Blue Lagoon, we decided to move Elysium to a place we had stopped the day before in the dingy while exploring. We made it through with ease as the girls, Fisun and Asiye kept a close watch in front of the boat with visual navigation. We are safely anchored amongst reefs that were in all directions from the boat. A fabulous Reef to snorkel.

As it turns out, it was a great anchorage surrounded not only by reefs but to the east of the boat was miles of beach with no one in site! The reefs in front of the beach made this like a maze to enter through. The bluest water you can imagine, anchored 100 meters from the beach in 4 meters of water and a nice swim with the whitest sand ever.

We have been here now 2 days, so much reef to snorkel and other small uninhabited islands to explore. We are headed out tomorrow for the Island of Waya for more villages to visit and another nice bay with great reefs to explore...

Thank you for following along as I make my journey around the world..

Waiting for weather!!!

AS I sit in harbor waiting to see how this Low will affect the weather here in Fiji! I have been in Fiji now since October 24th,2006. I have seen many of the beautiful islands of Fiji now! The Mamanuca Group of islands are unique in there own way as this is where the movie Cast A way was filmed. What a beautiful set of islands and great people as well. Further up the north is the Yasawa Group where they filmed Blue Lagoon! I haven't been able to every island in these 2 groups but what I have seen has been spectacular! I then set sail towards Vanua Levu where the village of SavuSavu is located. This is where I needed to be to acquire the correct paperwork to be able to visit the Lau Group. The Lau Group is a special, unique and hard to get to set of islands. I am very excited to be headed that way soon! I am only able to get permission to visit one of the islands in this group. The surrounding islands of Venua Levu are my next islands to visit as well as Vanua Balavu in the Lau group before my extended visa expires in April of 2007! Living in the islands, sailing, diving and snorkeling is the best way to experience local hospitality! Today was the Wellington 7's, Rugby tourament and the Fiji team has now made it to the final's, tonight at 8 pm we see the match between Somoa and Fiji for the Cup!!

Here's to sailing in Fiji!!! Cheers
